APE'S NEW RIG GIVES JUNTTAN A RUN FOR THE MONEY APE's new "fast set up and drive" pile rig, three years in the making, has arrived in Rome, New York. The new APE rig is fitted with a super advanced APE 170 variable moment vibro and is driving 60-foot long sheet piles. The mast rotates: something not found on any other pile rig made. The new rig is a joint venture between APE and Nippon. APE's Bill Ziadie helped design the rig. Bill previously worked with both the Junttan and PVE Pile rigs. Bill made sure APE's new rig had all the best features of the Junntan and ABI rigs.

Are you purposely being mislead? One of the first steps in selecting the right size vibratory pile driver is to do an amplitude equation to determine whether the vibro has enough amplitude to shake the pile. To do this calculation one must know the eccentric moment of the machine. Some manufacturers fail to list the eccentric moment of their machine. Why would this important information be missing from their specifications? The answer: To make you believe their hammer is really bigger than it is. A good example is HMC's spec sheet on the Movax Sonic Side Grip. (see their literatu ...

Today history was made. The largest diesel hammer in the world, the APE/SEMW 220, with a ram weight of 22 metric tons was successfully tested and sold to an off shore oil company. The APE/SEMW D220 diesel hammer is a full two metric tons larger than Delmag's old Model 200. In addition, the D220 has superior thermal expansion design over the Delmag D200. APE/SEMW's marketing strategy is to build larger diesel hammers as a low cost replacement of the much more expensive hydraulic hammers offered by IHC and Menck. "Diesel hammers have always been superior to hydraulic ham ...

CD Perry is currently at work on a very interesting piledriving job across the Hudson River from Albany NY as a subcontractor to LG Constructors. Faced with many challenges during the bid phase, CD Perry approached APE and together we came up with a system that would allow for the successful driving of the piles while meeting an extremely strict noise ordinance. The design called for driving 12x84 H-Piles between 60ft and 75ft long thru zero blowcount material into glacial till ultimately achieving a 200ton capacity. However local noise ordinances limited the maximum noise that could be ...

APE Mid-Atlantic in Virginia Beach Virginia boasts of the largest impact hammer test stands on the East Coast. It's mandatory ALL APE Branches have operating test stands and that all impact hammers are run & tested before going out to a job. Our test stand can test any impact hammer large or small, diesel, air / steam, or hydraulic. We also have one for vibratory hammers. APE Mid-Atlantic offers free hammer testing & evaluation. If you are not currently dealing with APE check to see if your current pile equipment supplier has a test stand, if so how big ? If they don't have one why are you dea ...

Costa Fortuna a Foundation Contractor from Sao Paulo, Brazil has taken delivery of a new APE Model 100 Wick Drain installation system. We assisted Costa Fortuna's very fine crew with installing the system on their 245 Cat, the installation went smoothly with only minor problems with the Excavator's older hydraulic system. I look forward to many more projects with Costa Fortuna in the beautiful Country of Brazil. ...

Project estimator Bruce Duhon supplied these pictures of the London Ave. Canal Floodwall Breach Repair at Robert E. Lee Avenue which consisted of driving 480 each of a HP14x73 with lengths up to 115' and batters as severe as 2:1 with the popular Ape model 7.5 hydraulic impact hammer. Piledriving superintendent Johnny Terral says "of all the hammers that he has used in his career the Ape model 7.5 is the sweetest one that he has ever used". ...

Dutra Construction of Northern California knows what it takes to get the job done! Especially when it comes to pulling concrete pile. They also know where to go to get the greatest foundation equipment in the world! APE! Why? As you can see in the pictures, Dutra Construction is one of the leading Marine Contractors in California as they pull fifty year old concrete pile in the Oakland Harbor. “These pile have been in the ground for a long time” says Terry Murray, Piledriving Superintendent for Dutra. “These are not even pre-stressed concrete pile and I didn’t know how they would react to vibr ...

Steve Gough, Managing Director for APE International Sales, helps introduce the "Fat Man 220" the largest diesel hammer in the world to a contractor's party held in Shanghai, China. The D220 (Fat Man) operated flawlessly while all the major Chinese pile contractors cheered. This was a historical moment for Steve Gough and for APE and SEMW. The D220 was sold to China Oil. Steve kissed the Fat Man D220 to give it good luck on its first job. The D220 has a twenty-two metric ton ram and is designed to replace large troublesome hydraulic hammers. The D220's smaller brother, the D180 is currently dr ...

MASSIVE FAILURES OF OUR COMPETITION'S MACHINES PROMPTS APE BUILD UP IN UAE APE Austria has begun a massive shipment of new APE Model 200 vibratory pile driver/extractors to the UAE. This is in response to recent electronic and overheating of our competition's so-called new units in hot weather conditions. APE machines are will known for their simplicity and ability to handle both the hot Saudi Arabian sun and the cold of Alaska. The secret is our unique kidney loop cooling circuit which can be reversed in cold weather. APE units come with massive heat exchangers and a special ...

APE Holland delivered two APE Model 170V and one Model 250V variable moment vibratory hammers to a customer in St. Petersburg, Russia. For driving a kingpile wall, both hammers were needed. The hammers are powered from an APE Model 700V power unit. By supplying one type of power unit for all vibratory hammers, makes it easier to switch hammers between piling rigs. APE Holland also supplied special leader guiding for the hammers. Our sister company CAPE Holland will supply a Hitachi KH 150-2 GLS piling rig, which will be used with one of the Model 170V hammers. ...
