Mascaro Construction, Pittsburgh’s premier general contractor, was awarded the David Lawrence Convention Center Riverside Park job, which included driving steel sheeting, beams and pipe piles. In the past, Mascaro would sub out any pile driving work. But project manager Brad McKibben and Superintendent Bob Yeckel thought this would be the perfect job to self-perform. APE Northeast got the call, providing an APE 200 vibro equipped with a caisson beam, caisson clamps, and a caisson to clamp adapter. This adapter facilitates a fast swap out from a sheet clamp to a dual caisson clamp setup. LU 2235 Pile Driving foreman Bob Kerns was impressed with this set-up.
APE NE would like to thank all at Mascaro Construction for trusting APE to provide their pile equipment needs on their first self-performing pile job. Stay tuned-APE will be providing Mascaro Construction with diesel hammers on another job within a few short days. We look forward to a long, mutually rewarding relationship.
“You’re from Jersey? Which exit?” goes the joke, referring to which exit a native New Jerseyan takes off the NJ Turnpike to get home. Superintendent Mark Timari of South State Inc. of Bridgeton NJ needed to drive 18″ pipe piles home for a bridge over the New Jersey Turnpike for the new Exit 7 Interchange. He did the right thing and called APE Northeast for an APE D30, and APE rose to the occasion, delivering a hammer ready to go to work. The D30 performed flawlessly throughout the project.
APE Northeast would like to thank South State for the business.

Sparwick Contracting of Lafayette NJ needed to drive sheet piling for the I-80/I-287 Interchange in Parsippany, NJ. They knew it would be tough driving so they called APE Northeast. APE provided a model 200-6 vibro, packing 6600 in/lbs to drive the cold rolled sheets into the difficult soil conditions.

When Chris Shannon with Linde-Griffith Construction of Newark, NJ needed to vibrate 30′ XZ85 sheets in tough cohesive clays, he put the call in to APE Northeast. The APE 200 Vibro at 4400 in/lbs was dispatched to the site to get the job done. Pictured is the APE 200 in action at the Echelon Mall in Voorhees, NJ. Linde-Griffith Construction, in business for over 100 years, was hired to drive sheet pile to hold back the existing parking lot for Macy’s department store. Eventually a combination of retail and residential space will be constructed.
The experienced staff at Linde-Griffith know who to call for the industry’s most technologically advanced, reliable pile driving equipment- they GO APE! We greatly appreciate their repeat business. Please call Paul Kuzik at 201-400-8356 for all of your deep foundation equipment needs.

Kokosing Construction, Ohio’s most prominent heavy highway contractor, was in the market for a powerful vibro for several upcoming sheetpile jobs. After carefully researching the choices, Kokosing’s equipment manager Bob Greene called APE Northeast. It was decided the APE 200T Vibro with the APE 700 HP Power Unit best suited their needs. The 200T boasts 5200 inch pounds of eccentric moment, 800 inch pounds more than the APE 200 vibro. The extra energy is due to tungsten inserts in the eccentric weights, a patented invention. In fact, the legitimacy of the patent was recently upheld in court when it was discovered 2 of APE’s competitors were secretly adding tungsten into their eccentrics as well.
The crane operator commented how “smooth” the vibro started and stopped. APE’s patented 2 stage suppressor greatly reduces the violent shaking up the boom typically associated with the operation of other manufacturers’ hammers. The 200T with the 700 HP Power Unit provides abundant hydraulic horsepower, making it a very powerful setup indeed.
Thanks to Kokosing Construction and Bob Greene for choosing APE. Call Paul Kuzik at APE/J&M Northeast @ 201-400-8356 for more info, and for all of your pile driving equipment needs.
Hammer after hammer is pouring into the Far East creating a wake felt throughout S.E. Asia. Jimmy Teoh and his company, Foundation Associates Engineering, have been taking over the foundation industry by storm. Here are photos taken recently at the Con-Expo show in Las Vegas. Pictured are Jimmy Teoh, his associate P.H., along with John Konwick, Paul Kuzik, Erik Erkelens, and Scott Gray of APE/J&M posing with 2 of the dozens of hammers purchased By F&A over the past year.
Pushing and pulling is what Rohrscheib Caissons needed to do in two different locations this winter. Up to 8 ft. diameter caissons needed to be driven and extracted. Kevin Rohrscheib called APE/J&M N.E. looking for two big hammers for the job. Two J&M 66/80′s went to Michigan and to Ohio to take on the snow and take care of business.
Spearin Preston & Burrows needed to upgrade their aging fleet of pile driving equipment for work on the Hudson River. They purchased 2 APE D46 diesel hammers and an APE 200 Vibro for the work at Pier 62/63(Chelsea Piers) driving 24″ concrete piles and a pair of D30 diesels plus an APE 200 Vibro for Pier 86 (Intrepid Pier) driving 24″ pipe piles on the Hudson River. The pile schedule was agressive enough to need an additional 200 vibro rental for both jobs.
Special thanks to Andy Murad and everyone else at Spearin Preston & Burrows who viewed APE as the obvious choice for their very large pile driving equipment purchase.
When Schiavone/Picone JV needed to drive flat sheet pile literally on a NYC sidewalk, they knew they needed a vibro capable of imparting minimal lateral vibrations to the surrounding structures. APE Northeast provided the APE 170VM Variable Moment Vibro for their Vent Plant Rehab project on 30th St. and 6th Ave. At 2200 inch/pounds, the 170VM was the right size machine for the job.
Along with the 170VM, the APE line of variable moment vibros includes the 120VM rated at 1600 inch/pounds, and the 250VM rated at 4500 inch/pounds. The 250VM is the most powerful variable moment vibro made.
